How it all began – the EKO® Swiss-made company history

Business begins as a sole proprietorship with the production of plastic products for the outdoor, recreation and games sectors.

Development of the first prototype of an EKO®-BOB. Manufacture of an injection moulding form for a children’s bobsled with shell seat, enhanced back protection and ribbed runners for better sliding characteristics. For the injection moulding tool “Zermatt” alone, the investment costs amounted to CHF 250,000. This laid the foundation for the success of the EKO®-BOB generation. During the winter 1977/78, we produced 25,000 of this model of sledge.

The EKO®-BOB “Grindelwald” followed - a model which was to be further developed in 1979 to become the EKO®-BOB “St. Moritz” with a front steering runner for self-assembly.

Introduction of the EKO®-BOB “St. Moritz De Luxe” with double-runner steering. This model was followed in 1982 by the EKO®-BOB “St. Moritz GTX” with foot brakes. For all EKO® products the focus is always on customer friendly delivery, according to the motto - ready for use!
